Pisgah Coffee Roasters is a family-owned and operated coffee roaster nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Founded in 2010 by Jotham Lipsi and his father Jonathan, the company's story spans over a century and nearly 4,000 miles, tracing back to Jotham's Italian ancestors who immigrated to Brazil in the late 1800s to work on coffee farms. The Lipsi family's deep connection to coffee began when Jonathan, an agronomist, acquired a 500-acre coffee farm in Minas Gerais, Brazil, featuring over 300,000 coffee trees. This provided young Jotham with hands-on experience in coffee cultivation during his childhood. In 2004, Jotham came to Western North Carolina on a tennis scholarship to Brevard College, where he fell in love with the region's natural beauty. Building on their Brazilian heritage and expertise, the father-and-son duo established Pisgah Coffee Roasters, specializing in single-origin coffee sourced exclusively from the Cerrado region of Brazil. The company is committed to ethical and sustainable sourcing practices, trading directly with coffee farmers, importing beans themselves, and roasting them in-house to ensure fair wages for farmers and competitive prices for customers. Pisgah Coffee Roasters takes pride in sourcing only the finest 100% Arabica beans that are third-party tested to meet USDA organic standards for mycotoxin and pesticide levels. Their beans consistently achieve cupping scores of 82 or above, ensuring exceptional taste and aroma profiles. The company employs small-batch, slow roasting techniques to create low-acidity coffee with high consistency, roasting to order to guarantee freshness and quality. With over 45 years of combined experience spanning three generations in growing, harvesting, and roasting coffee, the company brings unparalleled expertise to every cup. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of Pisgah Forest and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains, they name their coffee blends after local landmarks, including their signature "Balsam Blend" and "Shining Rock" roasts. The company operates both as a coffee roaster and retail coffee shop, featuring a drive-thru location on Asheville Highway in Pisgah Forest.
