Terms of Use

Better Beans is an informational directory that helps people discover independent U.S. coffee roasters and their coffees. Better Beans does not roast, manufacture, stock, or sell coffee and is not a party to purchases made through a roaster or another third-party website.

At the effective date of these Terms, Better Beans does not charge visitors to use the directory, accept paid placement, or receive affiliate commissions from outbound purchase links. If that changes, we will clearly disclose relevant commercial relationships.

We work to publish useful, evidence-backed information, but coffee offerings change. Prices, availability, product details, business information, and external links may become incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. Verify important information directly with the roaster before relying on it.

A listing is not a guarantee, certification, ranking, warranty, or endorsement. Tasting notes and similar subjective descriptions may be based on information supplied by the relevant roaster.

You may browse Better Beans and make reasonable use of its publicly documented catalog APIs, sitemap, and machine-readable resources for personal use, research, indexing, search, and AI-assisted discovery, subject to these Terms and our published crawler instructions.

You may not:

• Disrupt, overload, damage, or impair Better Beans or impose an unreasonable request volume.
• Bypass access controls or attempt to reach admin areas, credentials, private data, or nonpublic systems.
• Republish substantially the entire Better Beans dataset or commercially resell it without written permission.
• Misrepresent Better Beans data, remove source attribution where it is provided, or imply an affiliation or endorsement that does not exist.
• Use the service to violate law, infringe rights, distribute malicious code, or interfere with another person's use.

We may rate-limit, restrict, or block access that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or threatens the service. For permission beyond the uses above, contact us before proceeding.

Better Beans and its original site design, editorial copy, software, and selection and arrangement of directory content are owned by Better Beans or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. These Terms allow use of the service as described above but do not transfer ownership of that material.

Roaster names, trademarks, logos, product names, product images, and other third-party materials belong to their respective owners. Their appearance in the directory does not imply sponsorship of or affiliation with Better Beans.

Better Beans links to roasters, retailers, social platforms, and other services we do not control. Your interactions and purchases with them are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, shipping rules, return policies, and warranties. Better Beans is not responsible for third-party content, products, availability, transactions, or customer service.

Better Beans uses Google Maps features. By using those features, you also agree to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and acknowledge the Google Privacy Policy.

Better Beans is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Better Beans disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Better Beans will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from your use of the service, third-party links, or purchases from roasters.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Better Beans' total liability for all claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Better Beans to use the service during the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Better Beans. We may also restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect the service, comply with law, or address a violation of these Terms.

We may update these Terms by posting the revised version here and changing the effective date. Continued use after revised Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
