Olympia Coffee Roasting Company was founded in 2005 as a wholesale coffee roaster in downtown Olympia, Washington. The company was built from the ground up, starting in an unmarked warehouse before establishing its presence in the Pacific Northwest coffee scene. In 2010, Sam Schroeder and Oliver Stormshak purchased the business from its founders, bringing their passion and expertise to create a strong independent coffee roaster. The company's mission is to improve the quality of life for their farmers and staff by providing quality service to their community. Through direct trade partnerships with coffee farmers worldwide across eight countries spanning three continents, Olympia Coffee has been able to establish unprecedented control over the flavors of their coffee from varietal selection to processing methods. Olympia Coffee's journey includes significant milestones: In 2007, they expanded to a location on Cherry Street in downtown Olympia and opened their first retail coffee bar. By 2013, they were awarded Micro Roaster of the Year by Roast magazine with the highest scoring coffees in competition history. In 2015, they expanded their roastery to triple its original size and added a 23-kilo vintage Gothot Roaster to their operations. The company has won numerous awards including multiple Good Food Awards, placed in national barista competitions, and established direct trade projects throughout Central and South America, as well as Africa. Today, they operate seven cafes across Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle, along with a bakery. Their success stems from their commitment to quality, relationships, and innovation in the coffee industry, creating extraordinary coffee experiences for their community in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
