Nam Coffee is the first Vietnamese craft coffee importer and roaster based in Los Angeles, founded in 2022 by Vietnamese immigrant Vince Nguyen. The company represents a deeply personal journey from Vietnam to California, serving as Nguyen's love letter to his cultural heritage and entrepreneurial family tradition. Vince Nguyen was born in Pleiku, a highland city in Vietnam renowned for its coffee, tea, and honey farms. His coffee journey began at age 12 when he worked alongside his single mother at her street-side coffee stand in Saigon, learning the fundamentals of Vietnamese coffee culture and business. When he moved to Orange County, California to pursue a career in fashion, Nguyen was frustrated by the lack of authentic Vietnamese coffee that matched the familiar flavors of his childhood. Nam Coffee sources its premium beans directly from a third-generation family farm on Langbiang mountain in Da Lat, a highland region famous for its scenic vistas and fertile soil in Vietnam's Central Highlands. The company partners with farmer Thien, whose family has been growing coffee for three generations, ensuring authentic quality and ethical sourcing practices. The company's roasting philosophy emphasizes precision and tradition. Nam Coffee roasts premium, light Robusta beans at lower temperatures for longer periods to ensure every bean develops a proper oil coating and lasting, vibrant aroma. All products are certified organic with no additives like corn starch or chicory, maintaining the authentic Vietnamese coffee experience. Nam Coffee offers three signature blends: Da Lat (100% Robusta) inspired by Vietnam's beloved coffee-growing highlands, District One (50/50 Blend) named after Saigon's bustling central hub, and Orange County (70% Arabica, 30% Robusta) crafted for the West Coast palate. The company also produces Catinat, a decaf offering. After years of successful pop-up events across the country at weekend markets, Asian fairs, festivals, expos, and conferences, Nam Coffee established its first brick-and-mortar location in East Hollywood, Los Angeles in 2023. The coffee shop at 4876 Fountain Avenue serves as more than just a storefront—it's a cultural bridge, offering specialty signature drinks including traditional Phin filter drip coffee, Vietnamese egg coffee, salted cream coffee, and coconut coffee variations.
