Goldberry Roasting Company began in 2010 as Doug Cooper's basement hobby and still small-batch roasts at the family-owned Ashland, Ohio roastery. Pete Cooper joined in 2018; the Franklin Avenue coffeehouse opened in October 2019, with a second shop at Oberlin College in 2020. Direct work with farmers in Mexico's Sierra Norte, and the sister nonprofit Coffee Growing Community, still shape how they roast and who they serve.
