Established by the adventurous spirit and coffee connoisseur Michael Gesser in 1994, Alaska Coffee Roasting Company is the result of a marriage between a love for travel, outdoor exploration, and an unwavering passion for coffee.
With a rich history living in Kenya and visiting every coffee-growing country worldwide, Gesser's close bonds with coffee farmers play a pivotal role in the journey from raw beans to your cup.
Alaska Coffee Roasting Company prides itself on specializing in single-estate varietal coffee beans. Much like an esteemed vintner, each batch is meticulously tasted and approved before it earns the coveted ACRC seal.
They prioritize organic beans when possible and occasionally feature beans that go beyond - beans that grow wild. Handpicked only at the height of ripeness, these beans are then dried and stripped of most of their chaff before being transported to the company in their raw, green state.
Upon passing the stringent taste test, these beans find themselves in the remarkable air-fluidized bean bed roaster. This state-of-the-art roasting system allows for precise temperature control, thereby nurturing the beans to reveal their unique profiles.
Unlike conventional roasters, this method ensures the oils - the essence of coffee's intoxicating aroma and complex flavors - stay within the beans, not on their surface.
Finally, straight from the roaster, the beans are frozen, putting them in a state of "suspended animation". This preserves the aldehydes and the oils inside the beans, guaranteeing an untainted, perfectly preserved flavor that remains intact until they're brewed.
So, when you enjoy a cup from Alaska Coffee Roasting Company, you're experiencing coffee in its purest form.
